Join us for a presentation by Dr. James Lendemer as he takes us on a fascinating
journey into the world of lichens. These often-overlooked organisms play vital roles in our forests—providing nitrogen, camouflage, temperature regulation, and seed protection—while adding beauty to our natural landscapes. Focusing on New York and Long Island, Dr. Lendemer will explore the diversity and importance of lichens, their ecological roles, and what they reveal about our changing planet. Dr. James Lendemer is the Curator of Botany at the New York State Museum in Albany.
