Dr. Bret Bennington : Geology Walk
Join us this Saturday, June 7 as Dr. Bret Bennington leads us on a Geology Walk along the cliffs at Montauk Lighthouse in the morning and then directs an evening of Stargazing later that same day.

Dr. J Bret Bennington is Professor of Geology and Chair of the Department of Geology and Sustainability at Hofstra University where he has taught for more than 25 years.
His research and teaching interests include paleontology, the geology of Long Island, and Charles Darwin and the history of geology. In 2019 Dr. Benningtom was presented with the Neil Minor Award for exceptional contributions to the stimulation of interests in the Earth Sciences by the National Association of Geoscience teachers.
We will meet Saturday morning at 10:00 at the south end of the lower Lighthouse parking lot for a walk that will feature a discussion of Montauk’s glacial history as we wander along the cliffs just west of Turtle Cove.
Then later we will meet at 8:00 at Third House for a brief discussion before continuing outdoors at dark to stargaze that evening.
