“Don’t Get Ticked, NY”
A Tick Awareness and Management Presentation
Ticks are a constant, year-round concern for residents of Suffolk County and other parts of New York State. Understanding where and when you might encounter ticks and what to do next is key to avoiding Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.
Join us to learn about tick biology, ecology and avoidance through self-protection and management with entomologist Dr. Jody Gangloff-Kaufmann, of the NY State IPM Program. This presentation will cover ticks of human (and animal) health importance, emerging species, and best practices for avoiding tick-borne disease. Tools and resources will be shared, including tick removal kits and other materials.
The NY State IPM program has a long history of research and outreach to provide communities with the knowledge and capacity to solve pest problems in agriculture and the human environment while reducing pesticide use.
Please note: This presentation will NOT cover the diagnosis or treatment of Lyme or any other tick-borne diseases.
