About the event
Third House Nature Center (THNC) is partnering with Suffolk County Parks to restore the native bobwhite quail population in Montauk. In 2018, THNC began the Montauk Quail Restoration Project, and will continue hatching and releasing quail for the next four years.
This is the second year that THNC has provided quail eggs to Montauk School. Mr. Brunn's science classes are enjoying hatching and rearing Bobwhite, and the school children will take a field trip to Third House on Thursday to watch their birds take flight. Montauk library will begin their first hatch this week under the supervision of THNC.
The public is again invited to attend 2019's first release on Thursday, May 23 at 11 a.m. at historic Third House.
